Chelsea winger Willian is reportedly in ‘favourable negotiations with Liverpool’, according to reports in Spain.

The winger's contract runs out in the summer and talks over a new deal have broken down

A report in Spanish publication Sport, via SportWitness, stated that given Chelsea retain interest in Barcelona flop Philippe Coutinho, Willian could be departing – and for a top-six rival.

Sport claim Willian is currently ‘in negotiations’ over a transfer to Liverpool with his contract at Stamford Bridge due to expire on June 30.

The report in Sport states that negotiations are ‘very favourable’ for the 31-year-old Brazilian as he seeks a lucrative deal if he enters free agency.

Liverpool have a wealth of attacking options in Willain’s position but Jurgen Klopp is likely to seek reinforcements ahead of next season in a bid to sustain their dominance.

Willian is currently back home in Brazil, isolating with family as part of the lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus.

He is almost certain to depart, with the winger running his contract down after talks of a new deal fell flat.

The Blues’ second longest-serving player has not been shy about his intention to move on, attracting interest from the Premier League top-six, with Chelsea’s interest in Philippe Coutinho only likely to increase talk of an exit.

Willian has hit form this season, acting as an elder statesman in Frank Lampard’s youthful project.

He has bagged seven goals and contributed six assists so far this term, including a classy double against fierce rivals Spurs, stepping out from the shadow of Eden Hazard after the Belgian’s summer exit.

The winger has won the Europa League, two Premier Leagues, a FA Cup and a League Cup with the Blues, but has said it ‘will be very difficult for me to renew because Chelsea offered me two years, I asked for three and it ended there.

‘We didn’t talk anymore, we didn’t negotiate.’
