Anambra Govt Relax Coronavirus Lockdown In The State

After discharging the index case and observing a total lockdown for over 14days in the state, Anambra State has lifted the lockdown earlier imposed in the state as one of the measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus disease in the state. The state governor, Willie Obiano, announced this in a state broadcast Saturday evening.

This is coming days after the index case of coronavirus in the state was discharged. In his address, the State Governor urged religious activities in the state to resume with immediate effect.

He however, advised residents to engage in regular hand washing, avoid handshakes, apply hand sanitizers and observe social distancing.

“All food and drug markets in the state are to open with immediate effect,” Obiano ordered. “I will meet with market leaders on Monday, 27th April, for further discussion.

When to re-open the schools as well as when civil servants will be allowed to go back to offices will be announced soon,” the governor said, adding that movements around the state were not restricted while all state boundaries remained closed.

Anambra State have only recorded one index case and the patient has recovered and as well discharged.
