Football leagues across the world have gone on temporary break due to the coronavirus outbreak, to allow the government to find a solution on how to curtail the spread.

The Dutch Eredivisie Season for 2019/2020 season has been declared null and void with immediate effect by the Dutch FA, due to the extended time of lockdown given by the Dutch government.

The development has denied the league leaders, Ajax Amsterdam, the league title. The Defending Champions are tied on same points with AZ Alkmaar, 56Points.

The development means there would be no promotion or relegation from the top flight, following an agreement reached over a video conference between the Dutch FA (KNVB) and clubs.

The Dutch FA had earlier this week stated that it did not intend to continue the 2019- 2020 season after the ban from the government on events was extended to September 1 due to the Corona Virus Pandemic.
