The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has urged residents to avoid kissing, hugging and handshakes in compliance with coronavirus public health advisory.

This is after a successful meeting with market leaders on Monday. The State Governor also mandated civil servants in the school to resume on Monday, in a bid to open up the state after over two weeks lockdown observed in the state due to coronavirus.

“All should always observe strict personal hygiene protocols such as washing of hands regularly for 20 seconds each time, use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, maintenance of physical distancing guidelines of 6 feet between people, avoidance of hugs, kisses and hand shakes as stipulated by the World Health Organizations (WHO) and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),” the governor said through Solo Chukwulobelu, Secretary to Anambra State Government.

Furthermore, he directed that public gatherings should not be more than 30 persons.

He also directed that places of worship during service should comply with personal hygiene protocols(including compulsory wearing of face masks), adding that services should not stretch for too long.

“The places of worship should not sit more than 2 persons in a pier. The pier behind should be left vacant before sitting of congregants in another pier.

He also added that vigils and other forms of religious night worship were not allowed for now and that congregants should go home immediately after service and not hang around.

He also reemphasized that market places, restaurants, bars, bus stops and every public places must comply with strict personal hygiene protocols.

“Families are encouraged to bury their loved ones as soon as death occurs. The burial should not involve more than 30 persons during which the guidelines on social distancing and wearing of face masks must be strictly observed, to manage the novel virus, Coronavirus” he said.
