Ojoto Community in Idemili South Local Government Area and the Uruagu in Nnewi North Local Government Area both in Anambra State share a boundary that cuts across Edoji community. The duo has maintained an over-the-shoulder relationship until the land demarcation 6 years ago, however, the Ojoto community do not seem to have been satisfied as they constantly seek dispute.

Six years ago, following chains of disputes, a committee was set up with delegates from both sides that saw to the demarcation of the land. Considering also that land is not usually linear as it can encroach into other lands, the committee did due diligence to map out sectors for each part. While at it, the Edoji community let go of 300 plots of land to Ojoto in order to maintain peace. This was categorically done in peace and the tarred road was used to demarcate both sides. There are documents from the committee stating the demarcation on the land, and it is an admissible evidence in court.

It, however, remains surprising that the people of Ojoto, last year, began encroaching into the space of Edoji community, note that these lands are individually owned by Edoji indigenes and some non-indigenes who bought land spaces from Edoji community, during the dispute properties were destroyed. The affected persons took the case to court, the police were involved and the case is still in court till date.

Unfortunately, the 5th of April 2020 witnessed yet another destruction of properties at night by unidentified persons. Properties erected on this land in dispute were damaged, destroyed, and abused by the unknown persons at night. The hoodlums were said to shoot sporadically that it was a miracle no life was lost. Investigations commenced afterward and snippets of unconfirmed reports alleged that the Ojoto youth are suspected to be the perpetrators of the act.
