A furnished three-bedroom bungalow built by the lawmaker representing Nnewi North Constituency, in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor, was unveiled and donated to three women Mrs. Gladys Chukwujuobi, Mrs. Anthonia Chukwujuobi, and Mrs. Bridget Chukwujuobi today May 22, 2020, in Nnewichi-Nnewi, Anambra state.

The three women who are childless widows in the Obibulu family had been living in a mud thatched building. The women had been living in the house for about 40years, according to the eldest wife, madam Gladys who is almost 80 years old. The women who didn’t have any children were given that mud house as their possession. The old house had leaking thatched roof, broken doors and windows; and had no proper basic amenities.

Anaedoonline.com gathered that the lawmaker Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor got wind of the situation of the women earlier this year(2020) and visited the widows in their home.

According to Hon. Okafor, their house was so dilapidated that major parts of the zinc covering the thatched house were leaking and some parts of the mud house were already falling.

3After his visit to the house, he decided to build a modern house for the three (3) widows.

During the unveiling, the lawmaker said “I tried to give them the best modern amenities in a home. Everyone deserves a good home and we gave them the best”

The Igwe of Nnewi, Igwe K.O.N Orizu III in his statement said projects like this should be commended. It is important for us to look after our own and our people.

The Speaker Anambra State House Of Assembly

The speaker of the house who was also present said it is the prayers of the constituents that have helped his colleague and lawmaker to achieve this. He urged them to continue to pray for him and that the next project will be greater than this.

The speaker also commended Hon. Nonso Okafor, he said he is the first House member to embark on a project like this. He said his efforts are duly noted.

Madam Gladys also prayed for Hon. Nonso Okafor. she prayed that God would bless him endlessly in all his endeavors. She prayed that he would not lack anything.

In an interview with the women, they expressed their gladness over their new home. One of them said “I can’t believe I will be able to watch television in my lifetime and sleep on a proper bed”. They are excited to move into their new homes.

The house is a 3-bedroom bungalow. It has a sitting room with a set cushion chairs, side stools, and center table. It also has a flat-screen LED TV and a cable network with one-year full subscription and also a well-decorated curtain. Each of the three rooms is furnished with a wardrobe, mattress, beddings, and curtains. The kitchen which is also furnished, the toilet and bath are all inline with every sense of modernity.

The women also bought a gift for Hon. Nonso Okafor, they presented a pack of handkerchief to him and the lawmaker accepted it with gratitude.
