‘I Am Stranded In Spain – Oshoala Cries Out For Help

Super Falcons and Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala striker is finding it difficult to return home due to the lockdown.

reports have it that Oshoala is stranded at her base in Spain due to the coronavirus induced lockdown.

Anaedoonline.com reports that the Barcelona striker as well as Namibiaโ€™s Zenatha Coleman who plays for Valencia, have indicated that they would like to return home to spend time with their families.

This is coming as a result of the cancellation of the Spanish Primera Iberdrola earlier this month due to the COVID-19 outbreak

Both stars are the latest players that have called for help in a bid to return home from after SL Benfica striker Thembi Kgatlana had written to the South African Football Association (Safa) following the cancellation of the Portuguese Liga BPI in April.

Oshoala contributed 26 goals in all competitions for Barcelona, including 20 in 19 league games to emerge as the league’s second-highest scorer during the 2019-20 season.

The four-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year winner, who observed the Ramadan fast in Spain, revealed she wants to return home to join her family.

Oshoala recently won her maiden Spanish Primera Iberdrola title with Barcelona Femeni. The country’s football body crowned the Catalan club champions following their inability to conclude the season due to deadly coronavirus.

Oshoala recently opened up on her admiration for Super Falcons legends Mercy Akide and Perpetua Nkwocha during her youthful days.

While missing a chance to play alongside Akide, Oshoala made her senior debut in 2012 and was privileged to star alongside Nkwocha before her retirement.

She only burst on to the international scene in 2014 at the U20 Women’s World Cup in Canada where she scooped the golden boot and golden ball despite the Falconets finishing as runners-up.
