Robbers Kills Colleague In Error During Operation

An armed robbery suspect has been shot dead by his colleague while they were fleeing a robbery scene.

The incident happened at Oktitipupa area of Ondo State.

Witnesses said the robbers had robbed a Point of Sales operator and attempted to run away when the victim raised the alarm.
The alarm made residents in the area gave the robbers a hit pursuit.
In an attempt to scare the mob, one of the robbers fired shots into the air but mistakenly hit his colleague on the head.

The witnesses said policemen from the Okitipupa Police Division recovered two guns and a bag snatched from the POS operator from the dead robber even as the fleeing colleagues were later apprehended.

Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident and said it was nemesis that caught up with the robbers.

In another story, Osun State High Court sitting in Ila-Orangun presided over by Justice Jide Falola, has sentenced two persons to death by hanging for armed robbery.

The convicts, Ayodeji Adeleke and Abiodun Oyedunmola were first arraigned on the 24th of May, 2019 for conspiracy and armed robbery.

Prosecution Counsel from the Ministry of Justice, Muyiwa Ogunleye, said, “the convicts on the 9th of December 2015 and the 28th of March 2016 robbed one Pastor Afolabi of his properties using a gun in Ila-Orangun.

“They also robbed Mr. Bayepade Olubunmi on the 3rd of April 2016 and One Owonifari Muiydeen was also attacked on the 14th of April 2016 in Ila using a gun.”

The prosecutor called five witnesses and tendered 11 exhibits, including a confessional statement of the convicts, a gun and two phones.

Justice Falola said the prosecution counsel proved his case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced the convicts to life imprisonment for conspiracy, and death by hanging for armed robbery.
