Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has landed in Italy to hold talks with Napoli over a possible move. The Serie A side is now in the driving seat for the 21-year-old, who enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Lille.

Osimhen has been linked with several big clubs in Italy, Spain and England, but he could now be set to join the Naples outfit.

Lille manager, Christophe Galtier, this month admitted the Nigerian who scored 18 goals under him, will leave.

Calcio Napoli 1926 reports that the player and his agent flew in on Tuesday for contract talks.

It is understood that the Italian club could use Adam Ounas as a makeweight in the transfer.

Anaedoonline.com reported that Osimhen, won the Marc-Vivien Foé RFI-France 24 Prize for best African player in the French Ligue 1, the French football championship for the 2019-2020 season.

The runners up are the Algerian forward Islam Slimani (Monaco) and the Moroccan defender Yunis Abdelhamid (Stade Rennais).

The organisers of the award said Osimhen was chosen by a jury of sport journalists specializing in French and African Football.

It will be recalled that Lille manager, Christophe Galtier, has admitted that he expects to lose striker Victor Osimhen and centre-back Gabriel this summer.

The Ligue 1 side narrowly missed out on clinching a Champions League spot for next season, which means they are likely to sanction sales to raise cash.

Osimhen and Gabriel are two of the squad members that have attracted a lot of attention from European clubs.

The Nigerian has been linked with Premier League heavyweights and Napoli, while Gabriel has been associated with Everton.

“I can confirm that both Gabriel and Victor are likely to depart. I’ve expected it for a long time.

“They are working very seriously and we’re working currently with the players who are currently here who are likely to replace them and obviously on future players who will come to us to replace them in their posts,” Galtier said according to Goal.
