Chairman of the clubs owners association of Nigeria, Isaac Danladi declared that the 2019/2020 season has been brought to a halt because of the prevailing circumstances, that is the COVID-19 pandemic, which has ravaged all parts of the world.

He said out of the 20 topflight teams, 17 of them had agreed to finish the season with calculated final placings on points per game basis and no relegation.

This however means Plateau United and Enyimba will claim the two CAF Champions League slots while Rivers United will join in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The club owners chairman, who also runs Nasarawa United however said it was “too early” to fix a definitive date for the kick-off of next season.

Recall this step is not the first time that the Nigerian Premier League has been terminated ahead of schedule as the league ended with 15 rounds to go two seasons ago with the aim of beating the deadline set by CAF to present clubs for continental competitions.
