Imo State Government To Digitalize Building Registration & Approval

The Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA is set to kick off automation and digitalization of Building approvals and registration in the state.

The General Manager OCDA, Engr Ikpamezie while inspecting activities ongoing at New ICT Centre of the agency yesterday, June 8th, 2020 made this initiative of the government known.

The Head of the OCDA ICT unit was excited to inform the General Manager Engr. Ikpamezie that the portal for the automation and digitization is up and running and they have recorded a laudable success in scanning a good number of approved building plans as well as those still undergoing approval process.

The ICT department also informed the OCDA BOSS, that once a developer has been registered, the information about the building plan can be accessed by him from any part of the world (including the stages of the approval as long as he has an internet and an internet-enabled device).

GM Ikpamezie who mandated them to integrate an automated SMS notification to all developers so as to get notified whenever their building plan moves to the next stage announced to the public in a statement made available to the press that the portal and an all-encompassing OCDA website would be achieved in no distant time to digitalize operations of the agency.

In another development, days of illegal construction work within the Owerri metropolis may have come to an end, following a mapped out itinery of work by the newly appointed General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA, Engr. Innocent Ikpamezie.
In an inspection tour around the metropolis yesterday, the OCDA boss was disappointed on the spate of risk the public is subjected to, by both the developers and builders.

According to Ikpamezie, developers only engage in developing their sites without prior approval from necessary agencies.

In addition, he said that the Owerri master plan was placed in jeopardy, thereby constituting to both social, economic and environmental degradation.
