Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has taken responsibility for their 1-0 loss at Aston Villa on Tuesday night. Trezeguet scored the only goal of the game, as the Midlands club boosted their chances of staying in the Premier League.

On the other hand, the Gunners remain 10th and are not likely to qualify for Europe via the league.

After the game, Arteta was asked about Mesut Ozil’s continued absence, with the German yet to feature since the restart.

He replied: “I don’t know. I try to make the best decision for the team and the club. All the time I try, sometimes I get it right, sometimes I get it wrong and sometimes I get it very wrong. “I will try my best.”

Arteta, has said he is not disappointed by their 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

According to him, his team came into the match after “a very emotional and physically demanding week” in which they beat Liverpool and Manchester City.

Arteta saw his side’s quest to qualify for the Europa League via the Premier League all but end, following a shock loss against their relegation-threatened hosts.

Trezeguet scored the only goal in the first half, as Villa boosted their chances of survival.

Arteta told reporters after the game: “This is football, every game is completely different. First of all congratulate Villa for their performance and win. For us it has been a very emotional and physically demanding week. We tried everything.”

Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has frozen contract talks with the club, according to the Sport.

The Gunners are now facing a nervous wait to see if they have successfully persuaded the Gabon striker to stay at the club.

Aubameyang is out of contract next year and is still yet to agree fresh terms. Arsenal may decide to sell the former Borussia Dortmund man this summer, rather than lose him for nothing in 2021.

Negotiations looked to be going well recently, as Aubameyang seemed more likely to sign an extension. However, the forward is delaying his decision on a new contract as he is waiting for Barcelona to make their move.
