Barcelona president Joseph Bartomeu has finally made it clear that the Catalan club would not even attempt to sign Neymar or even Lautaro Martinez as he predicts possible transfer drought.

The Catalan giants have made several attempts to land both players at the Camp Nou in recent seasons, but they won’t be pressing further in the transfer window, SunSport reports.

Both players are linked with the club as a possible replacement for Luis Suarez as they continue their search for a long-term striker.

However, the club has been financially affected by the coronavirus pandemic and now most of their plans have been shelved.

According to the club president Bartomeu, the situation is a serious one as the team may not be able to bring out big money to sign players for another four years.

“The current situation doesn’t allow for major transfer fees. “In the current situation, PSG don’t want to sell (Neymar) either, which makes sense as he’s one of the best players in the world. “Last summer we tried really hard to sign him but this summer we won’t even try.”

But the Croatian star whose contract with the Catalans expire in the summer of 2021 is not ready to leave the Camp Nou just yet.

The 32-year-old joined the Blaugrana from Sevilla in July 2014 and has been an integral part of the squad since then.
