Former Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen, says he is eyeing a return to the dugout soon. The former Eagles defender last managed Greek club, APS Zakynthos, between September 2018 and February 2019.

The 54-year-old told reporters that he hoped to be back in action soon. He said, “I hope I return as soon as possible because I’m itching to come back, but hopefully, that happens as quickly as possible.

“I will still do things my way, the only problem is Eguavoen doesn’t want to do what they ask him to do but I will do it my way and if I don’t do well, you can hold me responsible.

“But I will not accept a situation whereby someone will be influencing the game and tactics. I don’t think I can accept that.

“Everywhere I’ve worked, I’m very sure that most managements and all the players speak well of me. They know what I can bring to the fold, so I hope as soon as possible I can be back in action.

“There were offers just before the COVID-19 outbreak, two teams approached me. One in the NNL and the other in the NPFL. We were talking before the COVID-19 outbreak.

“I just hope and pray that the pandemic will go as quickly as possible so that things can return back to normalcy.”

Eguavoen’s last job in the Nigeria Professional Football League was with Sunshine Stars in 2017.
