Information gathered that some herdsmen who usually comes at midnight to sleep in the uncompleted building with their cows and leaves very early in the morning have butchered a villager from Ofekata Orodo in Mbaitoli LGA, Imo State.
News also has it that the victim is said to be mentally imbalance and usually sleeps at the premises of the uncompleted building.
The attack on the victim by the herdsmen occurred at about 7:15 pm on 16th August 2020.
Speculation has it that they (herdsmen) have been tracing her until that faithful day.
However, one of the boys who heard the lady shouting and struggling with them said, the herdsmen sighted their presence of the villagers and ran away so they quickly carried her from the ground and brought her out and raised alarm but before people could get back to the scene of the crime they could not see anyone even their cows.
The victim’s name is Evangeline Onyeisi Agogbuo
All efforts tried to communicate the victim’s Traditional Ruler or the President General of the Community nor the State Police Command PPRO to get their owns versions of the story proved abortive.
Meanwhile, it was recalled that the herders were allegedly forced to rape her while she kept struggling with them.
The Eze Elect of the area, Eze Marcel Uzegbu, was not around as at the investigation time.
But according to the President General of the Community, Mr Alex Iwuorie, who made an official report to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of Nworieubi, states that further actions would be taken, even as he pleaded to the government to hasten the establishment of the Community Policing for the protection of lives and properties of the people.
