The New Nigerian Bar Association (NNBA) has written Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation, informing him of its decision to form the association. Some aggrieved northern members of the NBA had pulled out of the association after the withdrawal of the invitation of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, as a speaker at its conference.

Chris Ngige, minister of labour and employment, says Mark-Anthony Okonkwo, a suspended traditional ruler in Alor, Anambra state, ought to be banished. Okonkwo and 11 others were suspended by Willie Obiano, governor of the state, for travelling out of Anambra without government approval.

 

One of the survivors of the attack against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the joint personnel of the police and the Department of State Security (DSS) says he had to run into a Catholic church to escape shooting from the security agents during the killing of their members in Emene, Enugu State, last week. The IPOB member, who witnessed the attack, said he knew 15 persons who were killed that day by the Nigerians security forces.

 

David Oyedepo, presiding bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, says he will lay his bare hands on COVID-19 patients brought to him for prayer. The clergyman, who spoke during the church’s covenant hour of prayer, asked Christians to understand that what they carry is “eternal life”, not “human life”. “You can imagine a medical doctor, going back there to minister to coronavirus patients (documented testimony). He found something, while others are scared by everything they can see,” he said.

 

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has described the call by the senate for proposals and memoranda seeking a review of the 1999 constitution as “a waste of time, energy and resources”. The NEF expressed its reservation on the proposed constitution review in a statement issued on Sunday by Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, director, publicity and advocacy, NEF.

Double Diamond, a pedigree Texel lamb, has been sold for £367,500 (an estimated $490,000) at auction to be considered the most expensive sheep in the world. Texel is a breed of domestic sheep originally from the island of Texel in the Netherlands. The sheep, considered to be genetically perfect, has several unique features including a toned torso, perfect head, muted gold colouring and heavily muscled.

The Federal government says it has kept to its promise of rehabilitating the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu to meet international standards.
