Gov Ugwuanyi Tells Suspects To Return Stolen Weapons

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on Tuesday appealed to those in custody of snatched weapons from security agents in the state to return them to the appropriate agency.

Recall that security checkpoints in the state were attacked by hoodlums and weapons carted away and vehicles burnt after the killing of unarmed civilians by security agents during a clash with members of the Indigenous People of Biafra on August 23, 2020, in Emene in Enugu East Local Government Area.

The governor who made the appeal after an Emergency Security Council at the Government House promised to get to the root of the killing.

Governor Ugwuanyi said, “Following the emergency Security Council meeting, it has become necessary to give those responsible for getting to the root of these unfortunate developments a little more time to complete their work.

“I beg those in custody of weapons snatched from security agents to return them to the agencies or the nearest traditional ruler who will return same to the appropriate security agency.
