The incessant rainfall in the last few weeks has flooded some areas in Imo state, Owerri especially Trinity Street, Akwakuma, and environs where many have been rendered homeless.

According to Mr. Emma Ogu, a journalist and lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, who was also affected by the flood, he said they were forced to pack out of their homes by unprecedented flood/landslide caused by the torrential rainfall of Sunday last week that trapped many families inside for several days before they managed to escape with some of their belongings.

Narrating his ordeal to our reporter, Mr. Ogu who was among the trapped victims, said that, he managed to move out members of his family through the bush last Friday, after breaking the fence wall. He expressed fear that the entire area may be submerged considering the incessant flooding and attendant devastation, as there is no longer vehicular movement to and from the area.
