Rohr Reacts After Super Eagles Defeat To Algeria

The Super Eagles performed below average following their defeat to Algeria in an international friendly match played at Jacques Lemans Arena Die Zeit in St. Veit, Austria A sixth-minute strike from Bensebaini made the difference in the match as the Nigerian side suffered another defeat to the North Africans.

Gernot Rohr’s men played to a more superior tactical team who have gone 19 games unbeaten and currently the African champions.

The Desert Foxes are on a three-match winning streak but Rohr believes his young squad will take the positives from the outcome of the game.

Complete Sports quoted Rohr: “This is a very good test for us. There are positives to pick from a tough game like this.”

The German coach said their focus now is the next friendly against Tunisia. Nigeria’s next game is with another African side Tunisia and the German gaffer has said that the team will be turning their attentions to the Carthage Eagles fixture.

The 61-year-old added: ”Now we have to recover well and start to plan for the next game on Tuesday against another tough team.”

Three new players were handed their full debut in the loss to Algeria including Midtjylland’s Ogochukwu Onyeka, FC Porto wing-back Zaidu Sanusi and RB Salzburg teenager Samson Tijani.
