In piece titled “Obi, SARS and other matters” Valentine Obienyem claimed has never met or communicated with James Nwafor the arrow ahead behind the Corpses at Ezu River.
According to him, while Governor, Obi received security reports everyday and acted on them promptly, the alarming excesses of SARS was never brought to his attention.
On the corpses found at Ezu River, he wrote,
“The truth of the matter is that Obi was not aware of series of probable gory happenings that led to that. The moment he got the news of the floating corpses, he returned immediately from his trip abroad with the next available flight and visited the site straight from Owerri Airport on Sunday”
“At the site, he announced a Committee to investigate and requested autopsies of six of the bodies immediately”. The following day, being Monday, he flew to Abuja to lay a complaint to the Presidency as well as the IG of police”
“After setting up a panel, the Federal authorities set another one and advised him to back down since the Federal government had wedded in”
On Peter Obi’s relationship with James Nwafor, Mr. Valentine claimed that his boss has not met or interacted Mr. James Nwafor, rather he meets with head of security agencies, which James was not part of.

On the ongoing controversy on the Demolition of Upper Class Hotel, noted that the hotel was linked to kidnapping following security report from DSS.
“As a matter of fact, human parts and guns were found in the hotel. If Obi did not demolish it at the time he did, Anambra people would have lost confidence in him as being selective in administering justice. He did what he ought to do and at the time he did it based on security report available to him”
“However, if after the demolition, it is discovered a mistake was made as unverified claims suggest, the owner should be compensated. Leaders make genuine mistakes everywhere“
