Manchester City defeated Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon, October 31, thanks to a lone strike by Kyle Walker who fired home from outside the area in the 28th minute.

A muted celebration from the Sheffield United academy graduate. City started the game brightly and would have opened the scoring earlier as the ball was fizzed in towards Ferran Torres and the youngster directed a well-placed header on goal but Ramsdale got a strong hand behind it.

City came close again in the 23rd minute when Sterling slid the ball across the box for Torres and the Spaniard toe-poked it towards goal but Ramsdale denied him.

There was no denying the Citizens in the 28th minute after a mazy run from Raheem Sterling then De Bruyne picked out Walker from distance and the City right-back rifled an effort from 25-yards out and his low effort beats the goalkeeper. 1-0 City.

Aaron Ramsdale was the hero again for Sheffield in the 33rd minute as he denied Kevin de Bruyne’s low drive freekick to keep the scoreline respectable as both teams went into the break with the visitors ahead.

Upon the start of second half, Riyad Mahrez would have made it two-nil as the Algerian hits the free-kick at the goalkeeper’s side but Ramsdale tipped it around the post.

Sheffield were unlucky in the 67th minute as they would have restored parity after Sander Berge crossed into the box and Dias managed to clear the ball into Ederson’s hands.

City missed yet another opportunity in the 74th as De Bruyne picked out Sterling superbly and Basham managed to knock the ball back to his goalkeeper after some lovely footwork from the England international.

However, there was no further ado as City failed to get another goal, but will thank Walker for his first half striker which handed them all three points. It ended: Sheffield United 0-1 Manchester City.
