Waldrum is currently monitoring the country’s women’s players globally, with particular emphasis on fitness levels and regular game time at their respective clubs.

Our correspondent learnt that the American gaffer had already sent WhatsApp messages to several new stars asking if they would want to play for the women’s national team.

The messages were also sent to some players of Nigerian descent born abroad, asking them to write a letter addressed to the General Secretary, Nigeria Football Federation, indicating their interest to play for the Falcons.

One of the new players, who was contacted by Waldrum, expressed joy at the opportunity to play for the Falcons.

“This is the chance I’ve been waiting for. I can’t wait to contribute my quota to the team,” the midfielder, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
