Liverpool coach Jurgen Kloop could not hide his disappointment after his boys were humiliated at home. Two quick second-half goals from Josip Ilicic and Robin Gosens were all Atalanta needed to defeat Liverpool 2-0 in their Champions League clash at Anfield Stadium.
Atalanta are the first team to beat Liverpool at Anfield in 90 minutes since Chelsea in September 2018.

The Italian League giants broke the deadlock on the hour mark and four minutes later doubled their lead with both strikes following the same pattern.

Ilicic tapped his side ahead in the 60th minute after making a run into the Reds danger zone to connect with Alejandro Gomez’s cross from the left flank.
Though Alisson Becker made efforts to save the cross, he was not as fast as the 32-year-old Slovenian in reaching the ball.

In the 64th minute, Gosens made it two for the visitors after Hans Hateboer laid an easy pass for him in the six-yard box to tap into the net.
The Serie A outfit again started their build-up to the goal with a cross before a beautifully orchestrated pass in the box that eventually led to the goal.
And they ran off with sweet revenge having lost the reverse fixture to the Merseyside by five goals to nothing earlier this month.
Meanwhile, both sides failed to make meaningful moves in the first half as the home team only managed one shot on target towards the end of the opening stanza.
Apart from the depleted back four, Jurgen Klopp’s set up for the game showed he wanted maximum points in the end but that backfired and their progress to the next round has been delayed by another game.
Liverpool still maintain their leadership on the Group D table with nine points from four games and a win for them in their next outing will see them advance to the next round.
