Enyimba head coach Fatai Osho says his team are studying their next opponents in the CAF Champions League, Al Merreikh, and hope to exploit the weaknesses of the Sudanese giants.

Enyimba v Rahimo Match Report, 06/12/2020, CAF Champions League | Goal.com

The Aba-based side battle Al Merreikh in the Preliminary Round 2 after defeating Burkina Faso’s Rahimo FC 2-1 in the Preliminary Round 1.

Speaking with our correspondent on Tuesday, Osho said his side had learnt from their inability to convert their chances against Rahimo.

He, however, said his side would hope to get a good result from the first leg in Omdurman to make the second leg in Aba easier.

“Al Merreikh are a traditional team in Africa; they have a lot of pedigree, they deserve respect and that is what we are going to give to them. We have to respect them a lot if we stand any chance of beating them. We have to use our ball very well and when we lose it, we have to get back quickly,” Osho told The PUNCH.

“The first leg in Omdurman is where we are looking at, we have to get a very good result so that it will make it easier coming to Aba. It is not going to be easy because they are a team with a lot of interesting players; that’s the Champions League for you. At this stage, you don’t expect minnows; African football has developed to the extent that anybody can compete anywhere. It is going to be a difficult one for us going to Omdurman in Sudan.

“Just like we will be looking at their tape, they will be looking at our tape too and we will keep whatever we want to do against them to ourselves, but we will be working, we will be looking at what we have to do to get a result. Every team have their plus and minus, so, we are going to look at their plus and how we can contain them and their minus, and how we can exploit it,” he added.
