Former Nigeria Senator and Lawyer, who represented Anambra West and Onitsha Senatorial district in the Nigeria Senate, during the second republic has died.
Senator Barr. Onyeabo Chukwunedum Obi (Os”Oji Nnewi) died late yesterday evening. His death was confirmed by his younger brother, Mr. Zik Obi.
Before his death, Senator Barr. Onyeabo Obi was the Chairman Nzuko-Ora Nnewi Board of Trustee.
He was born on November 20, 1938 to the prominent family of Late Senator Zik. C. Obi (Eze-Onunekwulu-Igbo)
He went to London School of Economics, London University. He was Director Nigerian Rubber Board 1977-1979. He was also the Chairman Committee on Procedures for Settling Disputes), Section on Business Law, Institute Bar Association since 1986.
In 1966, he was appointed as a legal adviser to the government of Eastern Nigeria and later in 1979, he was elected senator. He won the senatorial election for Anambra West scoring about 195, 472 total votes, his opponents were E.O. Ilozua of the NPN, his closest competitor and Chigbo Egbunike, Mokwugo Okoye and E.S.I. Agusionu.
He is a former Director of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Corporation, (1989-1991).
Currently, he is member Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party (P.D.P) Board of Trustee.

He Married Evelyn Nnenna Obioha.
