The Chief Fire Officer and Director of Anambra State Fire Service, Engr. Martin Agbili, made this known while speaking in a television programme, “Good Morning Anambra” which was monitored by Anaedoonline.ng

According to him, part of the sweeping reforms carried out by His Excellency, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano in the fire service of Anambra State was the increment of hazardous allowance of firefighters from the embarrassing sum of N10 to N20,000, monthly.

He revealed that before the reforms, the hazardous allowance of Anambra firefighters has been N10 since 1970.

Engr. Martin said that the N20,000 is an additional money to their monthly salary, he noted that the hazardous allowance of Anambra State firefighters is the highest in the country.

Commending the Governor, he said that apart from building more fire stations in the state, the Governor also approved the employment of one hundred and twenty (120) firefighters in Anambra State, which has boosted the workforce of Anambra State fire service.
