See How Nigerians Reacted After Finding Out Ross Barkley Is Of Nigerian Decent

Nigerians are reacting with excitement over news of the Nigerian roots of England international Ross Barkley following a tweet by a British entrepreneur Frank Khalid.

Mr Khalid, 52, a known big fan of Chelsea FC, stirred the excitement among football enthusiasts in Nigeria with a tweet on Monday.

He shared pictures of six players who have featured for Chelsea – Celestine Babayaro, Mikel Obi, Ross Barkley, Victor Moses, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham – and asked his followers to name their top three from the players.

“Several Nigerian internationals have played for Chelsea, also players with Nigerian roots. Name me your top 3 from these 6 players,” he said.

Barkley, 27, is of Nigerian descent through his father and bears his mother’s maiden name instead of his father’s name Effanga.
