Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has been advised to convene a “Bi Partisan’ political parley in the State to offer key political leaders, irrespective of political leanings the platform to make contributions to the development and growth of the State.

Fidelis Echendu, spokesman, Imo Awareness Coalition, IAC, a watchdog group told our sources in Owerri, that such a parley will not only benefit the State, but forster political harmony and understanding among key and critical political players in the State.

“We encourage Governor Hope Uzodimma to convene a Bi partisan parley in the State which will attract leaders of all the viable political parties for round table talks.

“Last year, we had advised the Governor to also convene an Economic and Development Summit. The State is in dire need of such a summit. These Summits are platforms for cross pollination of ideas for the good of our dear State.

“It is totally different from Stakeholders meetings which the Governor usually summons. Stakeholders meetings are limited in scope and outlay. It’s just a Forum for the Governor to give updates on government activities.

“A Bi Partisan parley will rather offer the Governor broad perspectives from various political actors in governing the State.

Echendu said Imo State has not fared better in terms of development, compared to the level of economic growth in other States in the South East and South South zones.

“The records are there. Our State is not faring well when you look at indices to asses development in other States including States that were created after Imo State” he noted.
