Leicester City Set To Reward Kelechi Iheanacho With New Contract

Leicester City is set to reward Kelechi Iheanacho for his impressive form with an improved contract, Anaedoonline.ng reports.

The Super Eagles forward, who is currently on international duty, is also believed to be keen on extending his stay at the King Power Stadium.

It is understood that Iheanacho has told the club he wants to sign a new long-term deal this summer. He has just a year left on his current five-year deal.

Iheanacho has been in fine goalscoring form in the last few weeks.

On Sunday, he delivered a man-of-the-match performance in securing Leicester City’s progress to the FA Cup semi-final with two goals and an assist in their 3-1 win over Manchester United.

Recall that Anaedoonline.ng reported that Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho was the last player to arrive at the Super Eagles camp, ahead of their 2022 AFCON qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Lesotho.

Iheanacho, who is currently in hot-form for the Foxes, arrived at the Super Eagles camp on Wednesday. His late arrival was due to a mix-up in his flight itinerary.

This was confirmed on the Super Eagles verified Twitter handle on Wednesday morning. This means all 24 players invited for the Benin and Lesotho fixtures are now in camp for the two qualifiers.

Gernot Rohr’s men will traveled to Cotonou today for their matchday five clash against Benin in Porto Novo on Saturday.

The three-time African champions will also tackle Lesotho next week Tuesday in Lagos.

Meanwhile, Anaedoonline.ng reported that Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr who spoke on several issues in the national team, during a media parley in Lagos, ahead of their AFCON qualifiers versus Benin and Lesotho said the selections was a difficult to make because many players deserve to be in the team.
