Today, Sunday 11th April 2021, the Member Representing Nnewi North in Anambra State House of Assembly and contender for the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) 2021 gubernatorial ticket, Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor congratulated the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. P. C. Ezeokafor, and members of the Catholic Youth Organization Of Nigeria (CYON), on the 35th World Youth Day celebration.
The Governorship hopeful who was at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church Nimo, today, the venue of the event, said that the organization has helped both in the spiritual, social, and mental development of youths in the Catholic Church and beyond, emphasising that special attention and support should be given to organizations like CYON.
Hon. Okafor urged the leadership of CYON and the Catholic Church to consolidate their efforts in repositioning the youths for a better society. The Glawmaker used the opportunity to re-emphasize his continued advocacy for the prioritization of institutional and deliberate policy towards the development of the youths.
Time for a giant shift in Anambra politics
According to him, the current state of the youths poses threats to the security, stability and sustainable development of the state and Nigeria harping on the need for government at all levels to pursue vigorously a growth-focused policy and laws that will make adequate plans for the youth.
He revealed that one of the reasons he has decided to run for the 2021 Governorship election of Anambra State is his desire to build a VISA Economy in Anambra that will be anchored on the ingenuity, energy and creativity of the youths, noting that his government will engage youths in many fruitful enterprises that will enable them to succeed.
The young legislator, however, advised the youths on the need for self-discipline which is fundamental in achieving their plans and visions, challenging them to pursue substance than shadow.
