Arsenal is unlikely to renew David Luiz’s contract this summer, according to Football London. Luiz has made 16 starts this season for the Gunners, but has been forced to have knee surgery this month.
The Brazilian will miss Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final second leg at Slavia Prague and this weekend’s Premier League clash with Fulham.
Mikel Arteta now relies on Pablo Mari, Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding in centre back positions.
With William Saliba and Dinos Mavropanos both returning from loans at Nice and Stuttgart respectively, Arteta feels he has enough options in that position.
Arteta is particularly keen to give more opportunities to Saliba, who endured a tough start to his Arsenal career after failing to make a single first-team appearance at the beginning of this campaign.
Saliba, 20, has played 16 times since leaving in January, winning the club’s player of the month award in his first four weeks with the Ligue 1 outfit.
Anaedoonline.ng reports that’s Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta is uncertain about Sergio Aguero’s future with the club. Arteta who did not directly respond to questions about Aguero’s future said the player has the talent to seek out opportunities.
“we will see what happens with him in the future”, Arteta said when asked about Sergio Aguero.
Aguero is set to leave Manchester City this summer when his contract expires. The 32-year-old is believed to be considering a move to Barcelona, where he could link up with compatriot Lionel Messi.
But he has also been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG.
Arsenal could also be a potential destination for Aguero, with Arteta, who coached the forward at City, adamant he is still an elite striker.

When asked if he believes Aguero can still perform at a high level, Arteta said on Thursday: “For sure. Sergio has a unique quality to see spaces that nobody else can see and to score goals in a really easy way.
“So I am sure that he will find the right next chapter for him.”
Quizzed on if he will be picking up the phone to see if Aguero fancies a move to north London, Arteta laughed and replied: “No, no, Sergio, we will see what happens with him in the future.”

After this trip to the Emirates, the Reds travel to face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions quarter-final on Tuesday. Klopp will talk of taking each game as it comes, but his eye will surely be on that fixture. Is Klopp going to ask Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who both have been on international duty, to play in both games? There must be a strong chance of one or both being rested for this weekend with Madrid in mind.

And even if Liverpool were at full-strength, can you confidently say there’s a 45.5 percent chance of the Reds winning this match as the odds mirror? This is a team whose form over the past eight Premier League matches would put them in the relegation zone, scoring just five goals and losing six matches.
