Outcome Of The Meeting Held By The Leadership Of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo South East Zone

The Leadership Of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Youth Wing South East Zone has released a press statement on its meeting held in Enugu during the weekend. Below is the outcome of the meeting 

The Leadership of Igbo Youths in South East under aegis of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Youth Wing, in an emergency meeting held over the weekend in Awka Anambra State, resolved as l
follows:

1. We reaffirmed our Gratitude, confidence and Support to the Leadership of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Worldwide ably led by His Excellency, Amb. Prof George Obiozor (Ugwumba)- President General, Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, the State Executive Committee ably led by the State Presidents, and the South East Governors’ Forum.

2. are concerned about the state of the Nation, especially, as it affects South East, ranging from Farmers-Herders Crisis, incessant Kidnapping and Raping on our roads, Cultism and Attacks on Security Agents by the Unknown Gunmen.

2.01 FARMERS AND HERDERS CRISIS
This security and economic challenges are not news in any part of this country.
it has severely hindered food security, affected numerous Lives/Property and continues to pose great danger in almost all regions of this country.

Several efforts have been made to solve this problem, but to relatively no avail.
There is need to holistically address this issue in order to preserve the Unity and Strength of this Country.
It is very unfortunate that Farmers have lived in peace for decades with Herders, untill recently when the killer Herders infiltrated the system.

On this note, we urge the Governors of South East to gird their loins and decisively enforce the Ban on open grazing in the region.

2.02 KIDNAPPING, RAPING AND KILLINGS ON OUR ROADS:
Aside the emerged Farmers and Herders crisis, another worrisome facts are the incessant Kidnapping, Rapping and Killings going on in the Country by the alleged killer Herdsmen.

This is unassuming, intolerable and unacceptable in South East. It is obvious that the Federal Government could not address this problem after several failed efforts.

The State Governors are doing their best on this same issue, yet the situation seems to worsen.
We therefore propose the establishment of State Police as an effective approach to many of these security challenges stirring us in the face.

On this note, We hereby align with EBUBEAGU, the recent regional Security outfit meant to fight and check insecurity, crime and other related Human Right abuses bedeviling us in South East.
We cannot persist on same approach and miraculously expect a different result.

Like the Igbo Leader, and we quote ” Ndi Igbo want Unity, But not the Unity of Slaves and Master, we want Peace but not Peace of the Graveyard, we seek Justice because we know that throughout history, those denied Justice have no interest in Peace”- Amb. Prof. George Obiozor(Enugu, 20th Jan. 20121); We do not expect the declaration and establishment of EBUBEAGU to be same as BAN on OPENING GRAZING in South East.

Security is everyone’s business, and our people cannot continue to suffer and/or die, while we fold our hands and watch without actions.

We therefore pledge the total Solidarity and Support of Igbo Youths to EBUBEAGU, and declare our Willingness to actively Participate and passionately Champion it, in order to maximize impact and yield visible Results.

All hands must be on deck, we hereby call on Igbo Youths in Southeast to rise in Solidarity and Support to the efforts of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, South East Governors’ Forum and other pro Igbo groups.
Together, we are Stronger and Better.

2.03 CULTISM:
Our attention has been drawn to the serial killings in some states in Southeast, attributed to the violent activities of Cultism.

Most disturbing is the rampage killings and beheading of Igbo Youths in Anambra.
Our analysis assumes that Igbo Youths are both Perpetrators and Victims.

In very strong Terms, We condemn this gluesome cult killings. The bond that keeps us together as Ndi Igbo is much stronger than whatever that divides us as Cultists?

This, indeed, is another very challenging moment for Ndi Igbo. A time that we need unseen Strength and Sacrifice to prevail. This Strength and Sacrifice can only come through Unity and Leadership.

Therefore, We commend the Executive Governor of Anambra State- His Excellency Chief Sir. Willie M. Obiano (AkpokuoDike Ndi Igbo) for the proactive measures, promptly activated, that immediately extinguished the violence and restored Stability in Awka and Environs, and also admonish Igbo Youths to desist from Cultism, as it has no benefit but gross regret and destruction

2.04. ATTACKS ON SECURITY AGAENTS:
We cannot fathom the agenda or purpose of the attacks on Security Agents in Southeast by the Unknown Gunmen. Killing the Security Operatives and charting away with their firearms.This is very worrisome as it tends to expose our people to more danger and insecurity

Example: Ifeanyi Amah is from Ebonyi State. He got enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force in 2018. He was shot and killed alongside 7 other police officers at Abriba by the unknown gun men.
He is an Igbo youth, someone’s son, Father and Husband.
He is also a victim of the mess this country has become.
As a police officer, he is only working to feed his family just like all of us have taken one job or the other to put food on the family’s table.
When we talk about Ifeanyi, we are talking about all the uniformed men out their, irrespective Religion and/or Tribe.
We are all Humans, seeking for what is best for us.
Truth be told, their are many good Security Officers out there, and we can never ignore their importance in the society.

On the same hand, We must admonish the Police and other Security Agencies to diligently serve the People more and molest us less.

Most Worrisome is the alleged secret arresting and killing of Igbo Youths by Nigerian Army.
We are calling on the Nigerian Army to immediately stop the random arrest and unjust killing of Igbo Youths in the guise of IPOB and/or ESN members. It is unfortunate that a revered organisation like the Nigerian Army, no longer apply the tenets professionalism and respect for Human Right while discharging their duties.

This is one of the obvious reasons why the Security Agencies have lost the confidence and Support of the masses.
The viral #EndSars Saga is a typical demonstration of this fact.

We therefore call on Police and the sister Agencies to discharge their duties professionally and with dignity in order to restore the Support and confidence of the tax payers.

On these notes, we condemn these attacks on the Security operatives, and call on all Igbo Youths to be on alert at all times as we do not know where these attacks are coming from, and therefore cannot rest on our oars untill we prevail.

May the soul of Ifeanyi Amah and other operatives who lost their lives rest in the bosom of the Almighty God; Amen.

3.00 DEVELOPMENT IN IGBO LAND:
We are concerned about Development in Igbo land, and we are happy the way Ndi Igbo are gradually committing their resources to the development of the Igbo Nation.

We commend and support the resolve and the clarion call by the Leadership of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Worldwide, about the think home Philosophy (Aku Luo Uno).

We also commend the state Governors and some Individuals for the Landmark Infrastructural Development in Igbo land, such as the renowned International Cargo/Passenger Airport and International Conference Center which are near completion in Anambra State, the World class Medical Centre in Ebonyi State, the foremost Sports University in the sub Saharan Africa in Anioma Delta State, to mention but a few.

Development in Igbo land shall not only liberate us from the shackles of Economic captivity, but shall also grant us unprecedented growth and a better society.
