A reliable insider in the Anambra State Police Command has dismissed reports that members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, are being detained in various police cells in Anambra State, describing such as fallacious.

It will be recalled that a post from IPOB had threatened an attack on the State CID, Awka, where it alleged that over 70 innocent members of IPOB were being detained by the State Police Command. IPOB had given the police an ultimatum of between 12 and 24 hours to release its members or risk an attack.

But reacting to this, an insider in the State Police Command dismissed the allegation as untrue, insisting that no IPOB members were being detained in any police facility in Awka.

Investigations conducted however revealed that the new CP had since assuming duty reviewed the detention of suspects and granted most of them bail with reliable sureties since the courts were not sitting.
