Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford has split from childhood sweetheart, Lucia Loi, after being together for eight years.

The duo split amid the pressure of the COVID-19 lockdown but are said to be on good terms and share “mutual love and respect”.

According to The Sun, Lucia has also moved out of the England star’s house in Manchester following the break-up.

A close family source who spoke with the paper said Rashford has been devastated following the split.

“After eight years together, Marcus and Lucia have made the mutual decision to part ways.

“It is a result of the pressures and strains of the COVID pandemic and lockdowns.

“There is a strong mutual love and respect for one another, having met at school, and there is a continued dialogue with the hope of a reconciliation in the future,” the source said.

Lucia has been with Rashford even before he made a name for himself with Manchester United and later as an England international.

Anaedoonline reported that Rashford named Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, as the best African footballer in the Premier League.

Rashford stated this on Monday during a Q&A session with his Twitter followers.

When specifically asked about the best African player he’s faced since making his Premier League debut in 2015.

“I think there’s some great African talent in [the] league at [the] moment. Mane particularly,” he replied.

Since Rashford burst onto the scene, he has faced top footballers from the continent like Yaya Toure, Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

During that time, 28-year-old Mane has won both the league title and the Champions League with Liverpool, while clinching the Golden Boot in the 2018/2019 season when he scored 22 goals.

While Mane finished fourth in the Ballon d’Or rankings in 2019, he was named African Footballer of the Year in that same year ahead of Salah.
