The Executive Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma has called on citizens to ignore rumours that people of Fulani extraction are coming to the state to kill them.
Uzodinma made this call while speaking at an event recently, adding that people peddling such rumours were agents of destabilisation.
“I discovered that there is a deliberate attempt by rumour mongers to put fear in our people. They raise rumour that Assumpta Cathedral will be burnt, Government house will be burnt. i have spoken severally to assure the people of Imo state that the events of last week or last month where hoodlums and bandits came into Imo state and started attacking people.”
“Those incidents will never repeat itself in imo state again. I want to let you know that those causing this havoc, most of them are not Igbo people, most of them are not from here. So when people carry propaganda that Fulani People are her to kill igbo People, it is not true.”
He also revealed that some of the attacks in the state were not carried out by Igbos insisting that some people he described as ‘idiots’ are sponsoring kidnappers and robbers to make the state a ‘theatre of war’.

He urged the people of the state to ignore rumours that the popular Assumpta Cathedral and the state Government House, Imo State were mapped out for an attack, vowing that his administration will crush any individual or group attempting to make the state a war zone.
