UPDATE: 10 killed In Renewed Benue, Ebonyi Communal Crisis

Anaedoonline.ng gathered that the age-long crisis resurfaced on Friday when the two rival communities clashed again, leading to the death of at least ten persons while scores were seriously injured.

Chairman of Ado LGA, James Oche, who confirmed to journalists in Makurdi, said he had asked both parties to sue for peace.

He lamented that despite the efforts of his administration to restore peace to the area, the hostility still resurfaced.

While appealing to the warring villagers, the chairman revealed that Police and the newly formed Community Volunteer Guards in Ado LGA have successfully rescued three people out of the five allegedly abducted by suspected armed kidnappers in the area.

“Operation Puff Adder Police Unit and the newly formed Community Volunteer Guards in Ado Local Government successfully confronted a group of kidnappers and secured the release of three of the five persons abducted,” Oche said.

However, when anaedoonline.ng contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Catherine Anene Sewuese simply said, “We are yet to receive that report”.
