60th Birthday: Peter Obi Gives Financial Support to Nnewi Hospital, Splashes Cash On Staff (Video)

In celebration of his 60th birthday, Former Governor of Anambra State and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, for the 2019 Election, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi has given financial support to Nnewi Anglican Diocesan Hospital, Akwudo.

The former Governor of Anambra State who was in the hospital today, Sunday 18th, July 2021, said that the financial to the hospital is part of the ways he has decided to celebrate his 60th birthday.

Presenting the cheque to the hospital management headed by the Hospital Administrator, Rev. Canon Emeka Igwilo and Senior Medical Officer, Dr. Douglas Nkemdilim, Mr. Peter Obi, who was the Vice Presidential Candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2019 Presidential election, advised the hospital management to make sure that the money is used in the interest of the hospital which it is meant for.

Anaedoonline.ng gathered that the former Governor who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Obi, also splashed cash gifts on staff on duty, beginning from the Staff Nurses, student-Nurses, down to the security men within the compound.

Other personalities who accompanied Mr. Peter Obi to the visit include, former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, Information and Culture, Professor Mrs. Chinyere Okunna, and former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Lawrence Ikeakor.

The Anglican Bishop of Nnewi, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Chukwuka Obi was represented by the Synod Secretary, Venerable Dr. Godfrey Mortanya, Episcopal Assistant in Clerical Matters, Venerable Dr. Nelson ILUNO, and the Diocesan Accountant, Venerable Anthony Ifejirika.

It will be recalled that at the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic, last year, 2020, the former Governor donated COVID-19 palliatives to the hospital.

Peter Obi, a devout Catholic and an indigene of Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area, continually come to Nnewi and to an Anglican-owned hospital in what is a show of goodness and goodwill that rise above religious and geographical walls.
