A distraught mother has appealed to the Lagos state government to help rescue her 25-year-old daughter trapped in the rubble at the Ikoyi building collapse.

The mum said her daughter, Zainab Oyindamola has been in the rubble since on Monday November 1, when the collapse happened.

In an interview with Channels TV, the woman said Zainab is an IT student. She said shortly before the collapse, she came out of the site to buy food. It was the food vendors who confirmed to her that Zainab was in the building when it collapsed as she returned back to the site after buying food from them

Meanwhile, an official of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr Ibrahim, has stated that voices have been heard from under the rubbles of the 21-storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos state on Monday, November 1.

Ibrahim in an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday morning, November 2 noted that efforts are being made to rescue the people whose voices have been heard underground.

“Yesterday night we were able to recover another body. We now have five alive, four dead. We had a little break of about one to two hours. By the time we woke up, we were hearing voices underground and that is what we are now trying to do. The heavy weight on top, we want to bring them down to get to them. We have isolated their locations already and we are trying to get to them”. He said.
