Rofiat’s sister, Okeowo, spoke with Punch about the last minutes she had with her sister before she was dragged away from their home. She reported that late Rofiat was requested to prepare beans for the family’s supper. The dead asked her permission to go out after putting the pot of beans on the fire in the evening, and she consented. She stated that she didn’t know where she was headed.She said;

“When it was around 8:30pm, I called her number and asked if she was coming home tonight. She said she was already on her way and almost home. So, I went to bed. Around 10:00pm, I called her, only to discover that her number was no longer reachable.

I asked her mother if she had seen her daughter, she said no. The following morning, I asked her mother again and she gave the same response.

It was later in the day that I heard that a lady was killed and beheaded in the community. I was suspicious at that moment since I had not seen Rofiat.”

She claimed she identified one of the accused in the viral video showing the culprits who decapitated the lady. This led her to bring a photograph of the victim to the Adatan Police Station, where a Divisional Police Officer informed them that she had been killed.
She explained that their mother, who suffers from hypertension, has not been notified about the issue because they are worried that if she is, something bad will happen to her.

In her words;

“If we tell her now and she dies, that will leave us with two dead bodies.”

When queried on what she wants the government to do, the aggrieved sister stated she wants her sister avenged.

She said;

“Those that killed her should be killed as well. They should also be beheaded just as they did to her.”
