Bilateral Flights Resume As Nigeria, UAE Lift Travel Restrictions

The federal government and the United Arab Emirates’ administration have agreed to eliminate travel restrictions between the two countries.

This was reported today by the Director-General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Captain Musa Nuhu.

“With this agreement, airlines from both nations can resume operations in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) that was signed,” Captain Nuhu stated.

He also stated that “Following the Federal Government’s review and acceptance of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) General Civil Aviation Authority’s (GCAA) “Safety Decision 2021-02 issue 24,” the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, approved the immediate reinstatement of Emirates Airlines’ Winter Schedule. All parties have been notified.”

Additionally, the NCAA President stated, “Consequently, Air peace and Emirates Airlines are at liberty to resume scheduled passenger flights between Nigeria and UAE under the terms and conditions of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between the two countries. All parties must ensure strict compliance with the COVID-19 Travel Protocols of both countries”.

“We wish to reassure the travelling public that the Federal Government would continue to ensure the provision of air services while protecting national’s interests at all times,” Captain Nuhu stated.

As previously reported, the federal government and the authority of the Emirate of Dubai have been at odds about how to execute the covid-19 protocols and fight the flight frequency war. Since last year, both countries have had flight limitations.
