The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the state’s dominant party, has reacted to an internal crisis inside the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Because the APC is now split over dominance, the PDP cautioned that the state should not be turned into a battleground ahead of the 2023 elections.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the issue in the APC in Oyo began when the party had its State congress on Saturday, October 30th, 2021.

During the party’s conference, Mr. Ajiboye Omodewu was elected chairman. He was, however, rejected by some of the party’s stakeholders, who have pledged not to cooperate with him.
The disgruntled members vowed to regain the party by all legal measures.
In response to the development, the PDP issued a statement on Tuesday in Ibadan, the state capital, through its Publicity Secretary, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, warning APC leaders not to turn the state into a battleground.
The ruling party urged the state’s police and other security authorities to put in place the necessary safeguards to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
“Politics is a game and must not be a do or die affair as being shamelessly displayed by the Oyo State APC and as the ruling party it is worthy of note that such attributes from Oyo APC are not only unacceptable in a 21st-century political space, to say the least, but also disgusting for any serious politician,” the statement said in part.

“As a result, we want to put the Nigeria Police on red alert by calling on other security agencies in the State to put close monitoring measures in place as part of proactive measures in order to forestall any form of unpleasant end from the raging whirlwind within the Oyo State APC, because we understand that their hallmark is ‘no other way if not my way may degenerate into chaos if not urgently tamed.”’
“We know that the choice between paradise and hellfire is on individuals,” the statement continued. “It is incumbent on individual persons, in the spirit of taking advantage of salvation and redemption, to heed the voice of reason and not use selfish and desperate political aspirations to plunge our dear pacesetter State into chaos.”
