Bashir Ahmad, a presidential advisor, claims that the Second Niger Bridge is named after President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) rather than his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan.

Ahmad had posted a video of the 1.6-kilometer bridge on social media, characterizing it as a key link between two economically important parts of Nigeria.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the Muhammadu Buhari Bridge (MBB), a 1.6-kilometer bridge that will serve as a major link between two economically vital regions in Nigeria,” he tweeted.

“It is not Muhammadu Buhari Bridge, and it will never be,” @Greenaetion stated. Buhari did not launch the project, and he did not utilize his salary to build the Bridge. That’s the 2nd Niger Bridge, also known as the Southern Link Bridge.”

“So, can we name it Goodluck Jonathan Bridge for drawing the bridge?” Ahmad responded on Twitter.
The bridge will be known as the ‘Muhammadu Buhari Bridge,’ repeat the word in your head.”

To relieve the strain on the Niger Bridge, which connects Onitsha and Asaba, the Second Niger Bridge is being built.
