A Former Commercial Sex Worker And Counterpart Tie Nuptial Knot In Bauchi

In what looked like an impossibility, the Sharia Commission of Bauchi state has wedded two former commercial sex workers in an occasion that was attended by many dignitaries within and outside the state.

The wedding was conducted at a brothel in Bayangari area of Bauchi metropolis.

The event was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, who also paid th sum of 50,000 naira as bride price on behalf of the groom, Rt Hon. Danlami Kawule.

In addition, the state’s Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Mallam Umar Kesa, was on ground to give approval for the marriage rites to be performed, after listening to the representatives of the families involved, as Bauchi state flagged off the empowerment of about 575 commercial sex workers in the state.

The chairman of Bauchi State Shariah Commission, Sheikh Mustapha Baban – Illela, performed the rite as the couple, Aliyu Usman and Sadiya Ibrahim, thanked everyone for supporting them and promised to repent of their past lifestyle.
