Primate Ayodele made the announcement in response to the country’s persistent gasoline shortage.
Primate Ayodele stated in a statement sent by his media aide that Buhari was incapable of handling the portfolio, especially at this critical time.

He suggested that the President retire honorably and pass over the reins to someone who knows the ins and outs of Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
“President Buhari should quit as Minister of Petroleum and transfer over to someone capable of managing this problem,” Ayodele said.
“This isn’t a joking matter.” The economy is already suffering, and we want a qualified leader; Buhari is unable to serve as Minister of Petroleum. We require the services of a qualified individual who is well-versed in our petroleum system.”
Since February, Nigerians have been dealing with a petroleum shortage.
