Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the former Deputy Senate President, formally launched his candidacy for governor of Enugu in 2023 on Friday.

This has put an end to months of conjecture about whether the Senator is interested in the top job in the state.

There have been discussions about zoning the governorship post in Enugu State, with supporters claiming that the Enugu East Senatorial zone should produce Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s successor.
