Gowon Asks Nigerians To Pray For The Best Leader In 2023 Elections

Yakubu Gowon, a former Head of State, urged on Nigerians to pray for the greatest leaders ahead of the 2023 general election on Friday.

Gowon stated Nigerians and leaders must maintain peace, progress, and national unity while receiving officials from the Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG) at his residence.

In a statement issued on Friday, PCG stated that the former president thinks God will decide the outcome of the upcoming general election.

He urged politicians and their supporters to look beyond the fight for power and instead demand peace, unity, and Nigeria’s future.

“Sustain hope, believe in Nigeria, trust in the cause of unity and peace,” Gowon added.

PCG is a support group clamouring for the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo to contest in the 2023 presidential election under the All Progressives Congress

Despite calls for Osinbajo to contest in the forthcoming election, the Vice President is yet to officially declare his intention to contest.

There had been speculations that Osinbajo would be willing to take over from his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari when his tenure ends in 2023.
