Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been offered the opportunity to join any political party of his choice and submit an expression of interest and nomination form.

The offer was made in a statement issued by the Middle Belt Progressive Forum’s convener, Paul Agada, on Tuesday.

Agada reiterated that the former president had the backing of the forum should he chooses to join the 2023 presidential campaign.

According to Agada, the former Nigerian president has more experience and capacity than any of the presidential candidates running in 2023.

He did, however, urge Jonathan to declare his interest in running for president.

“Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is a man of peace who has proved in the past that he does not set his personal ambition ahead of the country’s peace and stability,” he said in the statement.

“As a result of this unusual quality, he has gained a reputation as a peacemaker and crucial negotiator in disputes all over Africa.”

“Jonathan is remembered for establishing much-needed Federal Universities in Lokoja and Lafia, respectively, in Kogi and Nasarawa States. Also, he approved the disbursement of N30 billion from the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme money to finance the Loko-Oweto Bridge project to link Benue and Nasarawa States, a project that has already been completed bythe current administration.

“The Middle Belt Progressive Forum has a robust membership spread across the states of the Middle Belt and the country at large and we have agreed that former President Goodluck Jonathan stands heads and shoulders in terms of experience and capacity above all the numerous aspirants jostling for the tickets of various parties hence our resolve to purchase the nomination form of whichever party he chooses.
