Citizens in the United Kingdom have been advised not to travel to seven Northern states where a ‘high level security concern’ exists.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) made the announcement on the UK government’s website, citing a recent terrorist incident on a train destined for Kaduna.

Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara are among the northern states, according to the FCDO.

According to the UK government, these countries are prone to violence and provide a high risk of kidnapping.

“All travel to Borno State, Yobe State, Adamawa State, Gombe State, Kaduna State, Katsina State, and Zamfara State is strongly advised by the FCDO.” Violent attacks are common, and kidnapping is a serious concern.

“On March 26, 2022, gunmen launched an attack against Kaduna airport, killing at least one airport official in the latest in a series of attacks by gunmen in the North of Nigeria.

“On the evening of March 29, 2022, an apparent improvised explosive device attack took place against a train travelling from Abuja to Kaduna.

“Reports suggest that a number of people were killed and that others were abducted by gunmen.

“Train services are now suspended between Abuja and Kaduna”, it stated.
