Aloy Ejimakor, a special counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, said on Saturday that the IPOB leader would be granted bail on May 18, 2022.

This was said by Ejimakor in response to a judgement by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, which dismissed eight of Kanu’s 15-count accusations.

The eight-count accusations were dismissed by Justice Binta Nyako because the proof of evidence did not link Kanu to the allegations, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

Kanu had submitted a preliminary objection to all of the accusations, which was dismissed by Justice Nyako.

“I have studied the charges, and counts 6,7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14 have not revealed any wrongdoing against the defendant,” he concluded.

“Counts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 15 show some allegations. The court shall proceed to try the defendant on those counts.”

The judge on Friday fixed May 18, 2022, for a hearing for Kanu’s bail application.

Ejimakor in his reaction congratulated his fellow counsels for the feat achieved.

He wrote in a post on Twitter, “Congratulations to my colleagues who were on the ground yesterday to receive the 8-count strikeout

“It’s great that the Umuahia judgment was brought to bear on the bail application moved by SAN Ozekhome. I’m confident that #MNK will make bail on 18th May. Teamwork pays. #Igwebuike.”
