The world has gone digital, we now live in an age that we need to process myriad of information within a very short time. Having an understanding of a way to be a quick learner will give an advantage over others in whatever area of life you find yourself.
Without argument, reading is one of the ways of learning about anything. However , most people are faced with the challenge of either finding it difficult to read or having difficulties retaining things they read.
Over time scientists have discovered what will help anyone, no matter the area of expertise, learn fast and retain anything they read.
Some of the ways are mentioned below.

I. STUDY IN A QUIET ENVIRONMENT
The environment you choose to study determines the rate of assimilation. A quiet place of study with little or no distraction helps to understand at a faster rate. When the mind is focused on the task at hand, it helps the rate at which the brain retain what you are studying. Do your best to study in a place with minimal distraction. If your mobile phone will distract you. It is advisable you switch it off during the period of study.
II TAKE NOTE OF KEYWORDS

Reading is an active thing. It is more than staring at a book to let the time pass. You have to “participate” in reading to make it beneficial. Take note of keywords, write them down, you can highlight them with markers – use marker with different colors. If possible, copy those keywords on a jotter, so that you can check at regular interval to refresh your memory. Repetition helps retention.
III TAKE BREAKS WITHIN STUDY
Take a break within the study. I will say 10 minutes break after 50 minutes of study. Taking occasional breaks during the study will refresh and boost the assimilating ability of your brain. Reading for a long time without breaks lead to cloudy reading and wondering mind.
